Your just happy because Huddersfield won again - and you've probably extended your lead over me in fantasy footie.
Good to hear the phone is working for you. Just don't let the kids near it!

A good summary - thanks.

Just wanted to add that SYFAB now also have a funding search engine at http://fundingsearch.syfab.org.uk

It's free for anyone to use (you just need to register on the site). The funders we include in the search database are most relevant for South Yorkshire organisations, but there's still quite a bit of useful stuff on there for other organisations too.

Indeed I did feel that it was a great success, and I hope that this continues around the region. The 'surgeons' were kept busy and provided they do what they did last night ie listen and respond to what they are hearing, then it should go from strength to strength. Too often techie type advisers propound a particular route or solution without listening to the needs of the organisation they are dealing with. The voluntary sector is one area where this is less prevalent. As to why, I don't know. Perhaps their is less at stake, less of a hard sell and a greater sense of caring. Just a guess.

Nice. Wristbands have truly gone a long way, from being an accessory, to an advertising tool, and to even a memory-card-concealing gadget. Cheers to seeing more of its consistent evolution.

You've hit the nail on the head for us. The big problem is time and money - and the old adage says that time is money.
We're a small team, four people but only 2.7 WTE, no IT specialist, no marketing specialist, lots of expertise in our field and no time to do the "extras" of blogging, marketing, tweeting etc. Two of us tweet on an occasional basis, two are on Facebook for personal purposes, and our blog is best described as "embryonic." All this social media activity is additional to our core duties - we have to try to make time for it, often doing it in our spare time or snatched moments - which makes it appear ad hoc, bitty, unplanned, and (possibly) a little unprofessional.
There is not enough time to thoroughly investigate and try out social media, and a lack of skill within the team. Some are keen to try, others are not convinced it will be worth the investment of time and effort. There are some specialists out there, but we can't afford for an expert to come in and do things for us. Even when we do get some expert advice, we don't really have the time to implement it. We may try out a few things, but find it hard to get feedback. It costs time and money to acquire skills and knowledge, both of which are in short supply. We're willing, but struggling. It will be interesting to see where this leads.

We also use software that wipes the computer clean on a reboot, so if anyone has put passwords into email or bank accounts the computer can't remember it. I think this is also essential for community computers. the software we use is called 'Deepfreeze'

disgraceful! BT should come clean and stop saying that people are within reach of an exchange when we have proved many times that they aren't, and millions are without a connection and many more have very substandard connections. Victorian copper cannot deliver next gen access. We need fibre to the home. of everyone in digitalbritain. Well done for Anne for AGAIN raising the issue. Maybe one day gov and rda's will realise BT are telling porkies and sweating their assets instead of re-investing.

The USO of 2 meg for every home in 2012 is pathetic. It isn't good enough for innovation and growth now, let alone in another four years time. If Gordon Brown says 'everyone must invest in digital future' then let him make a start by making BT replace the obsolete copper infrastructure with fibre. Its cheap, easy and available. The tradesmen currently drawing dole could draw fibre through ducts and build a next generation network to bring pride and glory back to UKplc.
Everyone needs to be aware that if we don't do this we are soon gonna be out of the race big time.

Dear Sir/Madam,

My name Is Paul Hewlett and I work for First Light Movies. Thank you for publishing information on your site about our Studio Award Scheme. It's great to know that there are people out there spreading the word.

Could I ask that you correct a slight inaccuracy? First Light Movies distributes Lottery money which it receives from the UK Film Council, not the Big Lottery.

Thanks again for featuring information about us on your site, we're very keen to receive more applications from Yorkshire and the Humber and this type of exposure really helps.

Many thanks, Paul.
