The Paul Hamlyn Foundation’s education programme’s objective is to support innovative ways of increasing the learning opportunities of people within the UK.
Eligibility
They will only accept applications from formally constituted organisations.
The purposes for which you are applying must by legally charitable and your constitution must allow you to carry out the work you propose.
If your organisation is not a registered charity, they may consider you eligible to apply if your constitution establishes you on a not-for-profit basis.
What For?
The Education and Learning Open Grants Scheme is currently only accepting applications for innovation and change concerned with
- Supplementary schooling
- Tackling school exclusion and truancy
By innovation they mean:
- Initial research into opportunities and problems to identify possible interventions
- Feasibility and/or pilot studies
- Building on a pilot study to develop a larger initiative
- Replication and scaling-up
- Introducing successful exemplary activities to areas where practice is less developed
- New approaches to evaluation, sharing of good practice and learning
How Much?
There is no minimum or maximum grant size.
They normally expect the amount requested to be a substantial part of the amount required to fund a distinct activity or a substantial part of the work of your organisation. They are unlikely to fund 100 per cent of the costs.
They prefer to make grants where you and/or another funder are also contributing, preferably in cash, towards the cost of the activity you are asking us to fund.
In 2005-06 they made 301 grants under our Arts, Education and learning and India programmes. The average grant was £19,300 and the average grant above £5,000 was £48,575.
Deadline
There are no closing dates. You will be advised of the dates at which decisions may be taken when your application is being processed.
